The Russian delegation included more than 10 people, among them representatives of federal executive bodies and the business community. The main goal of the Minister’s visit was to coordinate with the Korean side specific steps to implement the agreements reached during the summit of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chairman of the State Council of the DPRK Kim Jong-un at the end of April in Vladivostok.
The key point of Alexander Kozlov’s program was the meeting on June 7 with the DPRK Foreign Minister Kim Yong Jae, who on the Korean side is co-chair of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation between Russia and the DPRK. At an expanded meeting, the parties substantively discussed a wide range of topics, including the creation of a financial model for launching the Russian-Korean electronic platform of the DPRK Trading House, the construction of an automobile bridge over Tumangan River, and further cooperation in the framework of railway projects with participation of RasonСonTrans joint venture.
General Director of the RasonСonTrans joint venture Ivan Tonkikh participated in the meeting as part of the delegation. Much attention during the meeting was paid to the compilation of timelines for the implementation of bilateral cooperation programs, which were worked out in details in the framework of contacts between members of the Russian delegation and representatives of relevant industry departments of the DPRK. All areas of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries were discussed strictly within the framework of Russia's obligations under the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
